Your skills exam will be conducted by an external examiner who will be a LN or an LPN. You will be asked to demonstrate three skills out of the given five skills. Any five skills out of all the skills taught in practical sessions can be asked in the exam.

In order to pass your competency exam and get qualified for your certification, you need to pass both the written as well as the skills exam. If you fail in either one of them, you need to retake that exam.

You will be given three chances to clear the exam, and if you are unable to clear in these attempts then you will have to retake the exam only after completing the course again. You will have to pay the fee every time you take the exam.

Cost of CNA training program in Mississippi

The cost of training programs in the state may vary from $350 to $2900. The cost of tuition fee in the community colleges is usually low but they will not cover the cost of certification exam, which is another $101.

You can either apply for loans or get acceptance into recognized nursing homes that provide you with free training. However, you will have to work for them for a few months after your training is over.

Some schools offer scholarships to deserving students and waive their fee. You can also receive financial assistance if you can prove that you belong to a low income group.

Renewal of CNA certification in Mississippi

You will get 24 months after your completion of course to take your NNAAP exam.

However, if you are working in a long term care facility, you need to get certified within 4 months from completion of your training.

After you get certified as a nurse aide, your certification will remain valid for the next 24 months. You should renew at least 2 to 3 months before it lapses as it will take at least 2 weeks for your form to get processed.

The nurse aides who want to relocate to Mississippi have to apply for reciprocity and get certified as a nurse aide in the state only if your certification in another state is currently active and in good standing.

This means that you should not have any criminal record or have been abused of patient abuse or neglect or misappropriation of patients property.

In order to apply for reciprocity, you will be charged a fee of $26.
