CNA Exam

The state exam for certified nursing assistants is taken in 2 parts – written and skills competency tests. The written test is based upon the theory or technical portion and the students are supposed to solve multiple choice questions with a score of 70% or above. The practical test is based upon the portion covered in laboratory and clinical session. The students have to perform any 5 given clinical tasks to show their competency level. They must pass in technical and practical tests separately. The results are usually out within a month. Passing the exam gives the students certificate and license for working throughout the state. On certification, the students get their names, address and working status listed on the state’s nurse aide registry.

It maintains a record regarding the relevant information of the prospective nursing employees. It includes the license number and status which help the employers within the same state. CNA License is a proof that indicates the capability and skills of a candidate to professionally work as a nursing assistant. The license has to be verified and renewed every 2 years so that its deactivation and expiry is prevented.

Maine has reciprocity agreement with other states due to which the certified nurse aides from other states can also work in Maine, provided that they must transfer their credentials and license for the same.

In short, CNA training classes in Maine are as long as 180 hours and thus, tend to cover each and every aspect of nursing. These classes prepare the students to grasp all the nursing technique and skills so as to become successful certified nursing assistants in future.
