To become a certified nursing assistant in Michigan, a candidate will be required to pass a state certification exam after completing an approved CNA course in Michigan. In the state, several community colleges, technical/vocational colleges, high schools, and independent nursing facilities offer nurse aide courses, recognized by the state Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs,

Procedure for Applying for State Certification Exam
Excelling in certification exam is very important to acquire a license. One can attempt this exam, only after the successful completion of the course.
This exam has two sections: a written test section and clinical skills evaluation test section.
The written test includes solving 50-70 multiple choice questions ensuring at least 80% accuracy, which is intended to examine overall conceptual nursing knowledge of the candidates.
If a candidate wants, he/she can also give this test in viva form also, although it must be correctly specified in the application form.
During the clinical skills evaluation test, a proctor randomly selects any 5 skills from 25 skill set and asks the candidates to perform those skills under his/her supervision; through which the nursing hands-on skills of the candidates are analyzed.
