New York State Nurse Aide Classes

New York State Nurse Aide Classes

All professions need great amount of dedication and enthusiasm. And when the occupation is related to nursing, these elements must be given a new dimension. In addition, one must be extremely patient, kind, and ever ready to go to any length in providing care to patients. It is impossible to excel in this profession without having a flare to serve. Until now, there have been many significant changes in medical science. What has remained the same is the demand and selfless services of nursing assistants.

CNA classes are necessary to prepare yourself for the nursing assistant job. This job needs special skills and training. After completing the course and passing the certification exam, you will have the required expertise to do the job. However, to continue working, you have to take education and keep on adding professional skills.

You have many options to take the CNA training. There are organizations that provide free education to aspiring students. The only thing you have to check is the accreditation factor. You will be allowed to appear in the exam only by completing the course your state approves. You may save money by joining free classes, but the time you put will go in the drain in an absence of official permission from the Nurse Aide Registry.

CNA classes in New York are also available online. The online training program is good for you in case you are a working professional, or have a family. Such courses are offered by hospitals and community colleges. Free online courses offered by hospitals are for those who are ready to work with the same facility for a set time period once the registry certifies you. There is nothing better than earning and learning simultaneously. Moreover, private clinics also appoint students where they can gain practical skills.

If you are not able to find state-approved training program, visit the local nurse aide registry. You can also consult few hospitals that are close to your place and find out what courses they are offering. If paying a personal visit is not possible, you can check the websites and seek information. Do not be overwhelmed with what you see on the website. The best bet would be to step in the premises and to know how true they are against the information provided on the Internet.

How to become a CNA in New York?

In order to get yourself in the database of the New York nurse aide registry, you have to pass the certification exam. The syllabus of the course should be in accordance with the registry. In-house and on-the-job training should be the course format. The required number of training hours is fixed by the state. You must join the institute or college only after confirming the state pre requisites.

After completing the course, submit an application along with other papers confirming your attendance during the set hours, and mail it to the Prometric. The application process will take some time that will allow you to prepare for the exam. Take and pass the written and practical tests. If you are successful in both these parts, the Registry will designate you as a certified nursing assistant.

Nursing aides do their duties under supervision of registered nurses. They are employed to provide direct care to patients, and assist the healthcare team. Their job towards patients is to feed, bathe and groom them, record and report patients’ information to doctors and nurses based on which the treatment is planned.

The training program is designed to help the students to challenge the New York state Department of Health’s certified nursing assistant Exam. The course teaches students about anatomy and physiology, personal and nursing care skills, communication and administrative skills, identifying emotional and physical needs of patients, patients’ rights, and safety measures.

CNA certification requirements in New York

To get the CNA certification in New York, students have to complete the state-approved training program. To take admission for the course, they have to hold a high school diploma. The required age is 18 years. Students have to complete 75 hours of training divided into classroom and clinical practice. Upon completing, they have to submit an application to the Prometric. The state also expects students to produce fingerprint cards to perform a local and national background check. They need to submit Negative TB testing report, and a proof of immunization as well.

The exam date, time, venue and its content are decided by the Prometric. Students have to attend both written and practical tests. The written test contains 60 multiple-choice questions to be finished in two hours. The practical test will need you to demonstrate five nursing skills. When both the exams are cleared, you will receive the CNA certification at your mailing address in a few weeks.

The main aim of New York CNA classes is to prepare students in accepting the exam challenge. You can take the course with any institute approved by the state. Just ensure that the course includes classroom as well as practical training, divided into 75-hours.
