How to become a CNA in Illinois?
- Find out whether your age and education qualify for the CNA training program. Most states allow students to enroll only after completing high school studies. In Illinois, you can enroll for the course if you have completed your eight-grade education. Further, your must have a clean background.
- After confirming about the eligibility criteria, enroll in a state-approved training program. If you are not sure where to enroll, search it on the Illinois Department of Public Health website. Complete the 100-hour training program and apply for the nurse aide certification exam.
- Prepare for the written and clinical tests. It is better if you clear the exam in the first attempt. If not, you are given two extra chances for the exam failing which will need you to take the training again. Verify your certification with Illinois Department of Public Health website.
CNA training program in Illinois
The training explains the students about basic personal care, body mechanism, applying safety measures in practice, stopping infection, administering medication, injections and IV fluids to patients, checking blood pressure, sugar level, weight, height, etc.
Registered and licensed nurses supervised the practical training. Students have to do the training in actual healthcare facility. They learn and train by working with patients. They are asked to change patients’ dress, bed, give bath, and feed them. Moving patients safely, and shifting them from the bed to the treatment rooms are also taught during the clinical sessions.
